The current public health emergency is quickly changing. While there are many different resources available, we wanted to share plain language resources to help people in our community including Californians with developmental and intellectual disabilities, their family members, and professionals.

The Federal government is posed to pass a Coronavirus response act that aims to, among other things, provide relief to small business and their employees. H.R. 6201, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act has several provisions relevant to small business in Paso Robles. Please read the full text for specific information as to the qualification conditions.

– Section 4102: 1 billion for unemployment compensation related to the virus.
– Section 7001: Refundable tax credit equal to 100% of qualified paid sick leave paid by employers.
– Section 7002: Refundable tax credit equal to 100% for sick leave for self-employed individuals who must self-quarantine due to Coronavirus.

Service providers are giving free internet service for up to 30-60 days for low income, students, and more due to the COVID-19.

Each service provider has a certain form or number that must be called or filled out to receive the service.

Below I have lined out each service and their current offers during this time:

The participant must fill out the application:

Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, new Internet Essentials customers will receive two free months of Internet service. We are also increasing the speed of the program to 25 Mbps downloads, and 3 Mbps uploads for all new and existing customers.

After your first two free months expire, you can either cancel the service (which you can do at any time) or keep it as a regular paying Internet Essentials customer. You will receive an easy to use self-install-kit that includes a cable modem (to receive service at your home) with a WiFi router (to connect your devices without wires). There is no term contract or credit check and no shipping fee for equipment.
They also have low cost computers that they are offering at this time.


Spectrum/ Charter:
The participant will need to enroll by calling: 1-844-488-8395.

Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.

Charter will partner with school districts to ensure local communities are aware of these tools to help students learn remotely. Charter will continue to offer Spectrum Internet Assist, high speed broadband program to eligible low-income households delivering speeds of 30 Mbps.

At this time AT&T is only removing their data caps for usage periods…

AT&T is taking a slightly different approach, removing usage caps. Until now, some customers have seen usage caps ranging from 150 GB to 1 terabyte per month, Motherboard explains. Users who surpassed those limits could be penalized $10 per additional 50 gigabytes, or more. It’s unclear if those caps will come back when the pandemic settles down.

Virtual care is recommended by the CDC as the way to get care, especially as a way to help avoid exposure and spread of potentially contagious viruses. Staff enrolled in Blue Shield can use the Teladoc App.
