NCI Affiliates, Inc. is a private non-profit organization established in 1979 that provides vocational instruction, day programming and community living services to over 279 Central Coast residents with developmental disabilities.

NCI has three components to its vocational program. The first step of the vocational process is the Work Activity Program which operates as a subcontracting business. Work Activity Program job instruction includes such activities as assembly, packaging, collating, labeling, sorting, mass mailings and paper shredding.

The second step is the Supported Employment Program which is a community based group placement of 3-4 individuals, hired by a business, to fulfill specific job services. Depending on the employer, these services may include yard work, janitorial maintenance, retail services, food services, and housekeeping.

The third step in the vocational program is the Individual/Direct Placement Program in which an individual client is hired directly by an employer to perform various job duties. All three steps in the vocational curriculum are supported by a vocational instructor to make sure the clients are successful in their employment placement.

In addition to the vocational programs, NCI also offers an Activity Center and Community Based Day program for developmentally disabled adults, that teach daily living skills, wellness activities, advocacy, computer skills training, music, and art instruction classes.

NCI Affiliates, Inc. also provides Community Living Services for adults with developmental disabilities. With the assistance of a Community Living Instructor, individuals are taught to live independently in the community. Services provided by the community living program include teaching individuals with developmental disabilities how to find a house/apartment, how to secure roommates (if necessary), how to budget finances, how to do responsible grocery shopping, how to pay bills, how to make medical appointments and healthy choices, and also instruction in safety, hygiene, and mobility (transportation) services.
